Pickup Trucks that Seat 6: The Top Choices

Looking for a pickup but got kids in the house? When most people think of buying a pickup, one of the biggest downsides that come up is the lack of seat space in most models. Well, there’s a solution to your woes: 6-seater trucks.

6-seater trucks are especially useful for people who use their trucks for multiple purposes, everyday tasks, and utility purposes that trucks can only take on. Additionally, a 6-seater allows you to haul cargo while retaining space for more passengers.

Interested in learning some options? We’ve got you covered. This post includes a list of some of the best 6-seater pickup trucks, along with a short blurb describing each of them!

6-Seat Pickup Trucks

Owning a truck with more seats can help to mitigate one of the potential annoyances of owning a truck: not having enough seats for your friends and family. If you need to fit 6 people in a vehicle, most would assume you need an SUV for the task. But if you need to complete hauling work, an SUV is not an option!

That’s where a 6-seat truck could really be useful. Most 6-seater trucks fit their passengers through two rows of bench-style seats, each fitting three across. The first row consists of the driver, the front passenger, and a center seat. In the back is another row of bench seating suitable for 3 people, shoulder-to-shoulder fitting six in total.

Here is a list of some trucks that have 6-seats as an option:

  • Ford F-150
  • Ford F-Series Super Duty
  • Chevy Silverado 1500
  • Chevy Silverado HD
  • Nissan Titan
  • Nissan Titan XD
  • Toyota Tundra
  • RAM 1500
  • GMC Sierra 1500
  • GMC Sierra HD

Ford F-150

A true best-seller, the Ford F-150 is famously reliable and versatile to boot. The F-150 has enough power to complete some hefty hauls, and tops it off by being able to seat up to 6 people at a time!

To get 6-seat capacity in an F-150, you’ll need to be sure you are getting a specific trim. The Ford F-150 models with available 6-seat options are the XL, the XLT or the Lariat trims in SuperCab or SuperCrew form.

Ford F-Series Super Duty

The super duty is a part of the same line as the F-150, but with some added muscle. The super duty is also a larger vehicle and should be capable of hauling even bigger loads than the other models in the F-series.

To find a Super Duty outfitted with 6 seats, look for the SuperCab or CrewCab with the XL or XLT trims.

Chevy Silverado 1500

As the best-selling vehicle in the United States, the Chevy Silverado is more than a cult classic, for many it’s an institution. To get a 6-seater Silverado, you’ll want to check out the double or crew cab body styles, this is because the regular cab will only have 3-seat options available.

Look for the double or crew cab body, these are designed with enough room for back seats, thus allowing for another row to make 6 usable seats.

Chevy Silverado HD

The Silverado HD is the heavy version of the 1500. This model was redesigned with added power in mind for taking on even heavier tasks with additional power and size to boot. The Silverado HD should be a great option for people who need plenty of space in the bed for hauling while still keeping space up front for the crew, or family.

The trims that will support a six-seat configuration are the WT, Custom and LT. These will each come at separate price points and with their own features, this will let you select the package that will suit your needs best!

Nissan Titan

While Nissan isn’t always the first brand you would think of when shopping for a truck, the Titan has paved its own way as a reliable and popular option. For the Titan to be outfitted with 6 seats your options will be limited to the low trims. These include either the S trim or the SV trim.

For the cab style you will have two choices that are compatible with 6-seats, these are the King Cab or CrewCab style. Both of these options are able to fit in the right amount of seats, but if you are feeling generous to the people in the back, the CrewCab style provides some additional legroom.

Nissan Titan XD

Engineered as a three-quarter-ton truck, the XD comes in with slightly more heft than the original Titan, and some extra power to boot. With standard four-wheel drive, and plenty of power, the Titan XD is a reliable workhorse.

To get the 6-seat configuration, you will select the same options as the regular Titan: select either King Cab or CrewCab, and S or SV for the trim, and you’ll be all set for riding with 6 people.

Toyota Tundra

If you’re dead set on buying a Tundra, but are looking at the newest models, unfortunately, you are out of luck when it comes to finding a 6-seat configuration, because it is not available on these models. However, if you’re willing to go for a second generation model, then you’ll be able to get your own 6-seat Toyota Tundra.

If you are committed to the Tundra, you’ll want to look for the SR or SR5 trim, these are lower trims and suitable for fitting 6-seats. For the cab, get either a Double Cab or CrewMax.

RAM 1500

Known as being a good “all-rounder” for its reliability and power, the RAM 1500 has great suspension and a rugged yet attractive design to bring you across whatever terrain is thrown under your wheels. And beyond that, the 1500 is stocked with lots of modern features, to keep your drives safe and comfortable.

All of the available trims come standard with two rows of bench seats in either the Quad Cab or Crew Cab body style. That means you are good to go almost no matter which specs and customizations catch your eye!

GMC Sierra 1500

Being the same brand responsible for creating the Chevy Silverado, the GMC Sierra is a similar option with some of GMC’s own trim types to choose from. The Sierra 1500 is regarded as an excellent towing truck and proves to be capable of some impressive hauling.

To outfit your Sierra 1500 with 6 seats, select either the Double Cab or Crew cab in either standard, SLE, elevation or SLT trims. If you are interested in providing some extra legroom in the back, look for a model with the Crew cab option.

GMC Sierra HD

Similar to the 1500 and the brand’s Chevy counterpart, the Sierra HD is yet another great option for those wanting a balance between bed space, power, and plenty of seats! This version is bigger and badder than the original and was designed to push even more muscle out of the engine. If you need more power, this is a likely candidate.

This truck has a few options allowing six seats. Select the Double cab or the Crew Cab with either the SLE, Standard, or SLT trims.

Conclusion

Hauling stuff in the bed of your truck or towing another vehicle with 6 people riding along might seem like an unlikely fantasy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! Trucks today truly allow us to have our cake and eat it too, spoiling us with power, hauling space, and even room for the crew or kids. When you get your 6-seat truck, what do you plan on doing with it?
